The fine print

Privacy

Settle It is a small, free site for voting on fun culture debates. We keep what we collect to a minimum.

What we collect

Your vote on a debate, and standard, anonymized web traffic data (page views, rough location from IP, device type) used to keep the site running and see which debates people care about.

What we don’t do

We don’t require an account to vote, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t track you across other sites.

Suggestions

If you submit a debate idea, we store the text you send us so we can review it for a future week. That’s it.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies to run the site. Here’s exactly what each one does:

  • settle_it_voter — a random, anonymous token (not tied to your name or email) that lets us recognize you’ve already voted on a debate, so one person can’t vote twice. It’s set when you vote and never contains personal information.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile — a bot-check that runs before your vote is accepted, so the results reflect real people rather than scripts. Turnstile may set its own cookies to make that check work; Cloudflare, not us, controls what those contain.

Ads

This site may show ads served by Google AdSense to help cover hosting costs. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technology to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites, including personalised ads based on your browsing. You can see what Google knows and opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com, and read more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
